Why I like the rain?
My modern flat suddenly feels like home.
Warm and sheltered.
Not missing out in life outside, rather life is happening right here.
It holds my bad emotions and keeps the good ones safe.
Calmly pattering onto the roof window in a meditative rhythm, telling me: “Everything is going to be okay.”
And on those days when I actually find myself outside, getting soaked, it washes away everything I no longer need to carry.
Why do we always feel this urge to be doing something, as if it's not okay to just stay home and have some time for ourselves? We feel guilty when we do. Like we might miss an opportunity, a moment. Everything is in such a rush.
But not when it's raining.
Traffic slows down. People wait, sit inside, let it pass. You're usually running late for whatever's next. And somehow, rain makes time itself feel slower.
Not wanting to get wet becomes the perfect excuse to take a moment for ourselves.
And that's why I love the rain
