When Enough Is Enough

Honestly, I’ve had enough.

I’m so tired of feeling like we are constantly becoming victims of our own circumstances.

I’m fed up with always having to struggle, with money, relationships, friendships, family.

And sometimes, as a woman, you need that rage to take a step forward.

That moment when you think to yourself:

I can’t always be the nice, good girl everyone expects me to be.

How can you ever be yourself when you’re slowly becoming an empty shell? Some kind of functioning machine, working for everybody else, putting your thoughts, time and energy everywhere but into yourself.

I’ve had enough of seeing women work twice as hard, only to earn half the money and receive half the respect that some men seem to get simply by being there.

I’ve seen it myself.

I worked in construction, in a male-dominated environment, and I felt like I had to work twice as hard.

I had male colleagues who genuinely made me think:

How did you even get hired?

Guys who were employed with a high salary from the very beginning, without being half as capable as I knew I was.

And I’m actually not mad at them.

I’m mad at the system.

I’m mad that women are still putting so much time and energy into trying to succeed within it. Often driven by our own egos, feeling like we constantly have to prove to ourselves and everyone else that we are capable, while still experiencing so much disrespect in the process.

How often was I sexualised and seen through that lens rather than through the work I was actually doing?

Eventually, having enough, and being angry enough was what got me out of that job.

And now I’m finally putting all of that energy into myself.

The rage is still there.

But maybe, for now, that’s what moves me forward.

And hopefully, with time, I won’t need it anymore.

Hopefully, one day, I’ll do the things I want to do not out of anger,

but out of love.
